The Pitt football program will have a pretty interesting recruit on campus this Friday.

Akron (OH) running back and 2017 Ohio State commit Todd Sibley (5-11, 210) tells me that he’ll make the trip to Pittsburgh this coming weekend.  I talked to Sibley about this trip and his current relationship with Pitt.

“It started last year, Pitt was one of the first schools that I visited with my teammates Jonah Morris and Tyler Gilchrist.  Ever since then I’ve always liked Pitt”, said Sibley. “I thought it was a great school with a great football team. The way they run the ball is similar to how we run the ball at my school right now. I talk with Coach Narduzzi the most, he’s a great coach.”

I asked Sibley his reason for wanting to come visit Pitt again?

“I’m going to visit Pitt to see the campus and talk with the coaches about their interest in me.  I want to learn about Pitt football and what it’s like being on campus and being a student athlete at the university.  Also, I’m looking forward to seeing the facilities.”

Sibley, who is ranked as one of the top 20 backs in the country, committed to Urban Meyer and Ohio State back in April of 2015.  Keep in mind, 2016 Pitt commit George Hill was also an early Buckeye commitment before eventually choosing Pitt.

“I’m making this trip to make sure I made the right decision”, Sibley told me. “A lot of things have been going on throughout this recruitment process recently with Ohio State.  So for me, visiting Pitt and looking at other schools will help me make sure I make the right decision in the future.”

Sibley tells me that he’s also looking at Penn State, Missouri, Michigan State, Michigan, Virginia, Wisconsin and possibly Stanford and Florida State.

“I think the one thing interest me most about Pitt is the history of great running backs that have come through Pitt. So many great names, and I feel like if I ever had the opportunity to be apart of the team then I could to be one of the great running backs to play at Pitt and make a name for myself”, said Sibley.

“My coach also feels that Pitt would be a great fit for me because of the way they run the ball, like I mentioned earlier it’s similar to the way we run the ball so I would have an advantage playing at Pitt.”

One final note, Sibley’s HS coach Tim Tyrell has some familiarity with Pat Narduzzi.  Both coaches are from Youngstown and went to Ursuline High School and they also both attended Youngstown State.
