Most of the prospects attending Pitt’s Junior Day already have an offer from the Panthers. One of the talented players that doesn’t is Florida cornerback Quran Hafiz.
However, that could be changing very soon.
Hafiz (6-0, 170) is a 3-star cornerback from Jacksonville, Florida. This weekend, Hafiz will be spending the weekend in Pennsylvania. First, he’ll attend Penn State’s Junior Day on Saturday, then travel to Pitt on Sunday.
Odds are pretty good that Hafiz could land offers from both of those schools.
“They’ve (Pitt) been on me hard so I wouldn’t be surprised if I get the offer and that would mean a lot to me and my family”, said Hafiz.
This trip for Hafiz will be special because it will actually be a homecoming for him.
“Well, I originally was born right outside of Pittsburgh in McKeesport and all my family and friends live there so it would be nice to play in my hometown”, said Hafiz. “I moved to Florida when I was 9 years old. ”
Despite coming home, this will be a “business” trip for Hafiz. The rising prospect will be doing plenty of research on both Pitt and Penn State.
“Things I’ll look into when it comes down to making a decision is the education at schools, the relationship I have with the coaches and how I fit in their program. I would say the main things will be education and relationship with coaches.”
So I asked Hafiz to tell me a question that he’ll be asking both Pat Narduzzi and James Franklin.
“The #1 question I’ll probably ask the coaches is just to show me how my style of play their defensive schemes”, said Hafiz.
Hafiz is described as a playmaking, lockdown cornerback who is very confident and plays with “swag.”
The Florida cornerback says that he doesn’t have a favorite school right now. After this weekend, he’ll most likely attending Junior Day at East Carolina in April and then take a trip to Indiana and South Florida.
Finally, I asked him if he sees himself as someone that commits somewhere early or will he let the recruiting process play out?
“That all depends on how comfortable I am with everything and if it feels right and the school feels like home”, said Hafiz.
Up first will be Pitt and Penn State, will the the first impression be favorable?
