Over the last 2 weeks, Pitt coaches have offered a ton of skill position players from Florida. Running backs, wide receivers, cornerbacks and defensive ends, today they offered a big offensive lineman. To say that Connor Robbins is big is an understatement.
Robbins is an offensive tackle for Menendez High School (St. Augustine, FL) and he measures in at 6-8, 328 lbs. That’s a big boy.
“I think I might be done growing taller but I’m hoping I’ll just fill out more from now on”, said Robbins.
Despite his size, Robbins can move for a big man and that’s something that Pitt line coach John Peterson liked when watching Robbins practice in person on Thursday.
“He said he enjoyed how I can bend and move for being a bigger guy. I think my biggest strength is mostly my run blocking. I love the power run game”, said Robbins.
“The Pitt offer was more of a surprise. Coach Peterson messaged my coach asking about me. Then he followed me on Twitter, so within a week this all happened.”
Pitt joins Cincinnati, Maryland, Missouri, South Florida, Syracuse and Central as teams that have offered the Florida lineman.
“It’s awesome getting an ACC offer, I know it’s a great conference and I’d love to be apart of it. Pitt is my 16th offer and I’m interested in them because of how great of a school it is, as well as their history”, said Robbins.
I asked Robbins if he’s noticed the amount of players Pitt has offered in Florida already and the recruits that they signed last year?
“Yeah, coach told me that they sighed 5 Florida players last year and that’s awesome to me because there will be people who I can relate with on and off the field. And being farther from home won’t be that big of a problem. I just want to be wherever I can see myself playing.”
“Pitt will hopefully be one of the visits I take. As of now, I’m not sure which schools I’ll be visiting.”
