Multiple members of the Pitt coaching staff are in Florida this week, which has resulted in many players being offered scholarships. One of those players was Timber Creek High School (Orlando) wide receiver MJ Jarrell.
“Coach Sherman was the first to follow me on Twitter and Coach Conklin I believe is my area recruiter and is the one that offered me”, said Jarrell. “He said they just had a wide receiver get drafted and they are looking to replace him and that could be me.”
“My family was excited. Pitt is a big school in the ACC so it’s a big deal to have their interest.”
Pitt joins Duke, Indiana, Iowa State, Louisville, Maryland, NC State, South Carolina, South Florida, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest as schools that have offered Jarrell.

Jarrell (6-2, 183) tells me that Pitt likes his speed, his hands, size and his playmaking ability. “I feel like my strongest part of my game is when I’m in open space rather it be KR or PR, I read the field very well and I score.”
The recruitment for Jarrell is really starting to pickup which is exciting for him but also stressful.
“Being a highly recruited player is a great feeling”, said Jarrell. “Everyone wants you and you see all these nice facilities and welcoming coaches but then it can be stressful too trying to pick a school because everyone has things that attract you so it’s a great problem to have.”
Jarrell plans on taking the time to come to Pittsburgh for a visit.
“I don’t have any dates yet but I will definitely try to visit and get a feel for the school and I also plan on visiting more schools that have offered but I don’t have any set dates.”
Pitt wants to keep getting recruits from the state of Florida so I’d imagine their pursuit of Jarrell will continue.
